Kucinich is no longer running for the democratic nomination.
Was it that…
NBC rescinded his invitation to the national debate?
Voting machines invalidated the New Hampshire primary by eating votes?
He is facing a tough reelection battle in Cleveland.
Because of the campaigning of his main opponent, Cleveland Councilman Joe Cimperman, Kucinich has received a lot of negative media attention. Cimperman is attacking Kucinich for having focused his attention on the presidential race, which supposedly detracted from his congressional duties. A camera-bearing Cimperman campaigner placed “missing” posters inside of Kucinich’s office. Kucinich’s response to this stunt has also received a lot of bad press. He emailed a complaint to the Federal Protective Service, under the Department of Homeland Security: “The people must have some assurances that their government does not allow individuals to enter the premises and film them while they are seeking federal assistance.”
Joe Cimperman raised $226,000 in just one month of campaigning for the congressional seat, whereas Kucinich is reported to have only raised $40 by October.
Kucinich blasts Cimperman as a pawn for corporate interests; from what else would he receive for his attack ads?
I remember in 2004 election Edwards was similarly attacked for missing too many congressional votes, but Edwards wasn’t running for re-election. That tactic was used against the Kerry-Edwards run. Ok, maybe Kucinich has missed more than a few house votes, but I agree withhis positions the most–universal nonprofit healthcare, no war and its blood money, civil liberties not patriot act…
Although I do agree that the US should withdraw from free trade agreements like NAFTA and organizations like the WTO, I do not think we should do it to “Save Capitalism.” But I like to think that he only labeled his position in such a way as to avoid the “red scare” tactics that would silence his stance. or maybe he’s just a capitalist. democrats do have a more reasonable approach to appease its contradictions.
Don’t worry. I’m not going to go trotsky on you and say that we should support romney to force a revolution, but in the case that the worst does occur, i may be a little comforted by the idea.
The good news is that “Kucinich said he will not endorse another Democrat in the primary.”
