Blah, blah, blah

The U.S. Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division are investigating the South Carolina Highway Patrol. In series of videos, dash-board cameras have recorded South Carolina police officers intentionally hitting black suspects with cars and using racial slurs in their pursuit.

“I nailed the fuck out of him. He went flying up into the air,” said officer Steven Garren getting out of his car last June, “Yeah, I hit him I was trying to hit him.” Garren was only given a three day suspension, which he is currently appealing. Extended video.

Alexander Richardson drove his patrol car through the grounds of an apartment complex in pursuit of suspect who was fleeing on foot. According to Highway patrol records, Richardson endangered the lives of two five-year old children who had been on the playground that he drove over. At one point, he hits the suspect with his car. He was given a two day suspension. Extended video.

“You better run,” said officer Daniel C. Campbell, using a derogatory term for blacks, at traffic stop in South Carolina, “because I’m fixin’ to kill you.” He was reassigned to office duty.

In another county, a white trooper handcuffed a black woman to his car for 40 minutes and then left her on the side of the road without transportation.
